the need to be touched

" Humans have a fundamental need to be touched.

Numerous studies in the area of psychology have pointed to the critical effects of loving and appropriate touch on the social and emotional development of a person. They have convincingly and dramatically demonstrated how lack of touch affects the development of the mind and the body.

Being touched and cuddled is essential to healthy human development. During the early 19th century, if a  child was separated from its parents it was sent to a foundling institution. This was in effect a death sentence. A study of 10 such institutions in 1915 revealed that in all but one, every single baby under the age of 2 died. The reasons for this tragedy were unknown. Nutrition appeared sufficient. Sanitation adequate, if not overzealous. But the fear of germs and transmitions of infectious disease led to no-touch policies. As a result, the infants were seldom touched or handled."

A evidência do Coração

"A evidência do Coração está para além de toda a prática, para além de todo o querer.

Querer o espírito mais puro não é um método que funcione bem para o homem de fogo que nós somos na realidade. No querer espiritual os “possíveis” são criados em permanência : fogos, projecções inflamadas, tochas de ideias, difundem-se nas nossas esferas vitais subtis. Qualquer ideia saída do corpo, não vivida materialmente, deslocada, fornece os germes das existências futuras. É assim que novos mundos temporais se preparam quase sem o nosso conhecimento e se dispõem ao gosto das correntes dos mistérios da vida.

Assim, pela nossa orientação sobre os objectivos espirituais e sobre os métodos para aí chegar, nós chegamos ao exactamente inverso das nossas esperanças ou expectativas: degeneramos em face da porta do presente vivo.

As filosofias, as religiões, as ciências, os esoterismos, os saberes e tudo o que vem da mente, da alma e do corpo, afastam-nos desta fonte primordial, formidavelmente calorosa e amigável. Tudo o que rodeia esta fonte nos mostra uma génese, um caminho para “possíveis” que parecem mais interessantes, quando, na verdade, não há nada disso, cada instante de presença morrendo para ele próprio, sem método, sem ruído, sem drama, sem tempo, na alegria mais fecunda que há. É a evidência do Coração; ela é como uma Grande Ternura."
